Hi! I’m Pamela Moore…
I’m a Certified Epigenetics & Human Potential Coach, Reflexologist & Clinical Aromatherapist. As a result of my own personal health journey, I have a very unique approach to wellness.
Just about 10 years ago, I was in a mess with my own health. I was diagnosed with many autoimmune and endocrine disorders including Hashimoto’s (Autoimmune Thyroid Disease), Hypothyroidism, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. Then some years after that I was diagnosed with Lupus.
I grew up having a lot of what I thought were “normal” health issues (that I later came to realize weren’t normal at all) like chronic ear infections, bladder infections, eczema and allergies. Then when I got into my teens and hit puberty, more health issues hit. I started having serious hormone imbalances. I was a wreck emotionally. Because of my health challenges, I was inconsistent at everything from academics to sports to relationships.
My parents did what any parents would do (and the only thing they knew to do) and took me to many doctors. We did the whole Western Medicine thing and I struggled through high school on constant antibiotics, steroids, allergy shots and birth control pills for severe allergies, constant skin reactions (hives, eczema, boils, cystic acne), and hormone problems. But these were band-aids, not solutions. I was covering up and ignoring symptoms, instead of asking what was causing them and how I could support my body.
By college, the band-aids were no longer helping, and I started to develop other issues as a result of the different medications like chronic fatigue and candidiasis. I skipped class a lot and could not function without 12+ hours of sleep a night.
In 2009 I graduated with my Engineering Degree and landed a job in Houston, TX as a Project Engineer. The added stress of managing multi-million dollar oil and gas projects all over the country, a 3-4 hour daily commute, and a relationship ending with my college sweetheart were kind of the breaking point for my health. I was so fatigued and had boils and constant allergic reactions all over my body. I felt like Job in the Bible.
The next few years I spent every dime I was making as an Engineer trying to find answers for my health. I went to many different doctors, Naturopaths, Homeopaths, Chiropractors, Functional Medicine Specialists…. You name it, I tried it. I found a little relief here, and a little help there, but ultimately realized that these doctors and specialists and therapies did not have answers or solutions I needed. They would offer much hope at the start, treat me for long periods without much improvement (if any), then give up on my case giving me discounts for the failed treatment and eventually telling me “I’m sorry. We’ve never had a case like this that we couldn’t help”. Then they would refer me on to someone else. I felt like a guinea pig, being experimented on with different diets, hormones, medications and remedies.
And finally, enough was enough for me.
It was then I decided to take my health into my own hands. I spent hours each evening studying the body and different natural ways to support it. Through what I know was a Divine Appointment, I was introduced to Reflexology and spent two years studying Advanced Reflexology and Clinical Aromatherapy on weekends. Tools I learned from these therapies ultimately enabled me to quit steroids for the first time in my life. I spent several years experimenting with different diets, supplements and therapies. During this time, I really learned to take ownership of my own health. I learned to listen to my body and become in tune with it; to support it when I had symptoms instead of try to cover them up with band-aids. I learned to rest when I needed it… to say no and stop people pleasing. I learned that I needed no-one else’s permission to take care of myself and make the lifestyle changes I needed to support my health. I learned to make myself a priority. And maybe the most important lesson I learned was to trust the process, knowing that God was working all of this for my good and the good of others too.
Still in search for answers, I eventually had a test performed that showed I had a genetic marker for Lupus, and was diagnosed based on this and some other criteria. This diagnosis made a lot of sense to me, but my Engineering brain could not help but wonder “what caused this” and “what can I do about it now?”. Of course the Western Medicine approach for autoimmune diseases would be chronic steroids and/or immunosuppressant medications with severe side effects. That was not an answer for me, nor was I ok with just succumbing to illness and letting it define me for the rest of my life.
After doing some research, I learned that the genetic marker I have for Lupus does not mean you are doomed to develop the disease. Other factors like diet, lifestyle, stress and environmental exposures play a huge role in the development of this and nearly all diseases. So I thought, “If diet, lifestyle and environmental exposures play a primary role in the development of health issues…. They must also play a vital role in the body’s ability to heal”. You see, I believe we were created for not only health, but Abundant Health. I believe the body has an amazing innate ability to heal, but it has to be supported.
I love how God works. I got introduced to the concept of “Epigenetics” way back at the beginning of my health journey when I was the struggling Engineer. I was listening to a sermon series online called “I Changed My Mind” by Pastor Jimmy Evans from Trinity Fellowship Church up in Amarillo, TX. One of the sermons in the series had guest speaker Dr. Caroline Leaf, who is a Neuroscientist and expert in Epigenetics as it relates to our thoughts and how they affect the body, creating either health or disease. The sermon has always stuck in my mind and I have re-watched it several times and even read Dr. Leaf’s book “Switch on Your Brain.”
About 10 years after initially hearing that sermon and hearing the word Epigenetics, I was re-introduced to it and learned there is a whole field of Epigenetics through some fellow health experts. Now knowing about that genetic marker for Lupus, and having that sermon in the back of my mind all of this time, I became very fascinated and dove into studying Epigenetics. It was initially for my own health, but what I learned about my own genetics was so profound and resonated with my journey and mission to help others so much that I decided to study to become an Epigenetics & Human Potential Coach.
Learning about my own genetics was the first time my life and health really started to make sense to me, and the first time I truly felt empowered to change my health destiny.
Understanding my genes has let me know –
- That I’m not crazy. That I am very bio-individual and my body has some unique circumstances at the very genetic level specifically when it comes to utilizing certain nutrients, energy production and the ability to detox.
- That some of the approaches I was taking for my health (which I got from Autoimmune specialists) were not serving my genetics well.
- That my genes aren’t my future. I now know exact action steps I can take to very specifically support my body in these areas and create health from this point forward.
My own health journey took me down a long road of much trial and error. I learned a lot along the way, but I am so thankful for the new field of Epigenetics that took the guess-work out and helped me understand my exact blueprint for health. I don’t want anyone to go through the things I have, which I believe could have been fully avoided had I understood my own genetics (and how to live in ways that support them) much earlier.
It is now my mission to bring hope to others who are not willing to settle for less than optimal health. Through Genetic Testing & Interpretation, Epigenetic Coaching & Therapies, I now help health warriors like you understand your unique genetic makeup and work with you to create a clear path to optimize your health and change your future.
As an Epigenetics & Human Potential Coach, I will help you…..
- Understand your genes and exactly what they mean for
different areas of your health.
- Learn how your body responds to different foods, and what precise diet will lead to your most optimal health.
- Understand your body’s ability to utilize different nutrients, and how to support your body through strategic nutrient supplementation.
- Understand your body’s sleep chronotype, and how to optimize your sleep through Epigenetics and sleep hygiene strategies.
- Understand and systematically support your body’s ability to detox.
- Understand and support your body’s propensity for producing and handling different hormones.
- Tune into your body. Learn how to listen to the signs your body gives you when it is not in balance, and make adjustments to support it.
- Create space for your health. Think of your health like a garden. A garden takes time, effort, sunshine, nutrients, water. It will not grow without being tenderly and consistently cared for. It is the same for your health.
- Develop healthy boundaries for your health. It is okay to say no to that social thing when your body needs rest. It’s ok to invest time and money in yourself. In fact, it’s imperative for your health.
- Surrender to the process. Developing healthy habits and a healthy lifestyle is a process. Healing is a process. And it’s much easier with someone there supporting, guiding and cheering you on.
- Take full charge over your wellness. Your body is your responsibility. No one else can change your health but you.
If you are in a place where you know there is more and want to learn about your genetics and steps you can take to change your health outcome, I want to come along side you and help you discover your true potential.
I can’t wait to be a part of your health journey!
